Description/Significance
The Manakin, Virginia portion of this extensive highway project is a joint venture headed up by APAC-VA and joins forces with twenty-two road contractors.

Sargent’s portion is to construct an extension of Tuckahoe Creek Parkway from the intersection of existing Route 623/Hockett Road to the new Route 288 highway system, approximately 4,829 meters (3 miles) including ramps and loops to tie in to the new road system.

This portion of work will have approximately 400,000 cy of excavation as well as 14,000 lf of curb and gutter with 4,200 lf 6" underdrain.

Unique Job Elements:
Project is part of the new Virginia DOT program called PPTA, Private/Public Transportation Act, which allows for private design and construction proposals to be considered and negotiated.

Benefits:
Sargent Corporation, working with other Heavy Highway Contractors, helped push the completion date of this project up from October 2003 to July 2003.
