Description/Significance
The project consisted of the installation of artificial turf on Morse Football Field and Mahaney Baseball Diamond at the University of Maine, and construction of a brand new field hockey field.
Field Hockey Field:
Tilling & grubbing 1,400 cy of existing topsoil, installing approximately 1,100 feet of perimeter drainage piping and structures along 2000 feet of J-drain. Imported 1,400 cy of sand drainage buffer layer, 2,000 cy of a stone drainage layer.
Morse Field:
Installation of a 40’ steel/wood bridge to span the track to allow heavy traffic to access the football field without traveling on the existing rubber track that surrounds the field. Slipform curbing placed on either sides of the field. Installation of synthetic Field Turf surface, custom logos, and rubber /sand infill mixture completed the field.
Mahaney Diamond:
Crews stripped 1,700 cy of topsoil; removal of 5,500 cy or excavation and 7,000 lf of J-Drain and storm drain piping required to adequately drain the field. 4,000 cy of stone placed and finegraded. Installation of synthetic Field Turf and rubber/sand infill completed the project.
